John "Jack" Anthony Hettinger, or as he would say, "better known as Jack", age 80, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024. Jack was born on July 16, 1943 to the late Herman and Florence Hettinger in Louisville, Kentucky. Jack grew up in Edgewood causing mischief. After Jack graduated from Durrett High School in 1961, he married the love of his life Patricia "Patsy" Smith in 1964. Together, Jack and Patsy had one daughter Kimberly "Kim", the apple of his eye, in 1966.
Jack's early career was spent at Fawcett-Haynes Printing Company, however, he went on to retire from General Electric after dedicating 35 years of service as a production worker. Jack enjoyed spending time fishing, gardening, watching UK sports, and spending time with his family. In addition, he always looked forward to beach vacations and an ice cold Falls City Beer.
Jack is preceded in death by one brother, Herman Hettinger Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Catherine McIntire and Jean Hettinger; three brothers-in-law, David Greenwell, Thomas Smith, and Daniel McIntire.
Throughout his life Jack held many titles, however the most near and dear to his heart were Husband, Dad, Papaw, and Brother. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Patsy; daughter, Kimberly Ann Duggins (Thomas "Friend" Sr); three grandchildren, Brittany Rigney (Brad), Thomas "Tucker" Duggins Jr. (Shayna Richards), and Madaline Duggins (Brian Donoho); 3 great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Rigney, Henry "Hank" Rigney, and Harper Duggins; one brother, William "Bill" Hettinger; one sister, Mary Ann Bellucci (Joseph); one sister-in-law, Pat Hettinger; one brother-in-law, Charles Smith (Georgia); several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Visitation for Jack will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm at Arch L Heady & Son Funeral Home - Okolona Home, 8519 Preston Hwy, Louisville, Kentucky 40219. A funeral service will be Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 10:30am at the funeral home. A burial will be Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 12:00pm in Evergreen Cemetery.
