

John Harvey Langford, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on March 15, 2026, while surrounded by his family. John was born on June 27, 1942, in Louisville to the late Ernest and Ruby (Streible) Langford.
John retired from Fischer Packing after many years of dedicated work. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Well-known and deeply loved throughout the Crescent Hill community, John was a familiar and friendly presence along Frankfort Avenue. He could often be found enjoying time and conversation at the Frankfort Avenue Beer Depot, the Old Toll House, Big Al’s, or Patrick’s, where he shared countless moments with friends.
John was also a member of the “Turtle Club,” a group known for gathering to catch and cook turtles. Above all, John will be remembered as a genuinely good man—a loyal friend and a person who deeply cared for his family and those fortunate enough to know him.
John is preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Jimmy Langford; brother, Tommy Langford; and his sister, Billie Bennison.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Darlene (Collett) Langford; daughter, Kimberly Gadd (Mike); son, John Derrick Langford (Leslie); grandchildren, Grayson, Connor and Allison Langford, Seth Gadd, and Megan Mayer (Trey); great grandchildren, Cora and Crosley Mayer; sisters, Anna Halford and Flora Fitzhugh; and numerous nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.
A service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206, burial will follow at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood, KY. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s honor may be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Hosparus Health of Louisville.
