A native of Louisville, he was a retired Lt. of the Shivley Police Department. He was a member of the Broadway Church of the Nazarene, which his father started and pastored, a member of the Custer Masonic Lodge, Custer, KY., and a veteran of the US Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darvin Denzil Sr. and Nellie Lewis; son, Paul Wesley Lewis; and sister, Lydia Catherine Lewis.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Lewis Smith, grandchildren: Morgan, Michael, Tyler, and Justin; sisters: Frances Lewis Hayes and Ruth Ann Docter; and brothers: Paul H. Lewis, Dr. Holland Lewis, and Darvin Denzil Lewis Jr.
Funeral Services will be Noon on Monday at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, with burial in Rineyville Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
Visitation will be 2-8 Sunday and 9 AM until service time on Monday
