

The Louisville Native was the third of six children born April 7,1962 to Herbert and Betty Whitney. John attended Jefferson County Public Schools and was a 1980 graduate of DuPont Manual High School. John was a very dedicated school bus driver for Jefferson County Public Schools for over 15 years up until his illness. In his leisure time he loved fishing, watching Miami Dolphins, Louisville Cardinals and Nascar racing especially Chase Elliot. John was also known for his famous Barbeque skills he called himself the Grill Master. He enjoyed being outdoors and the grill was always calling his name. He had a self-taught talent for working on cars, a skill that he inherited from his dad as a young child from changing oil to rebuilding a motor. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids & his great nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Betty Whitney, sister Loraine Whitney and his daughter Johniece Whitney.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Damian Whitney(Netta), Jessica Whitney, Santana Whitney all from Louisville KY and Carlyn Werk from Hays MT, Four grandchildren, Khari & Khaiden Whitney, Jessica & Spencer Whitney, Sisters Patricia Bowen, Stephanie Ensey, Robin Brown (Milton) and Lois Hobbs all from Louisville KY, nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews, Aunts Catherine Meadows, Sandra Lewis, Carolyn Fishback, Joyce Wardlow(Floren) all from Bowling Green KY. Special friend/brother Wesley Laird & Rob Laird & a host of cousins & friends.
