John was preceded in death by the love of his life, Cathy Yuhas, by 18 days. They are now together forever once again. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steve Yuhas.
Known to many as Papa John, he will be remembered with deep respect for a life marked by steady devotion—to his family, to his work, and to the commitments he kept without fanfare. A truck driver by trade, an U.S. Army veteran, and a Mason, John carried himself with the quiet strength of someone who understood responsibility and lived it faithfully.
Papa John found joy in the simple, lasting things: fishing, camping, and just about anything that meant time alongside his wife, Cathy, and their children and grandchildren. Those moments—unhurried, familiar, and full of togetherness—were the heart of what he valued most.
John passed away at his home surrounded by family. He is survived by his children, Kim Pomerleau, Mike Holzknecht, Jr., Jeri Doyle (David), Dawn Rowe, Joanna Yuhas; grandchildren, David, Bud (Laura), Michelle (Booney), Terry, Laura (Stan), Drew, Mitzy; great grandchildren, Mason, Sunnie, Shelby, Silas, Ritchie, Caroline and Willow; siblings, Pauline, JoAnn (Ron), Mary Frances, Germaine, Julianna (Richard), Kathleen, Fred (Darlene), David (Bev).
Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218, on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:00 am.
