Johnie Ray Wyatt, age 85 of Louisville, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026. Born on April 8, 1941, Johnie spent his life surrounded by the people and things he loved most- his family and his Kentucky Wildcats.
Johnie was a hardworking man who retired from TARC after many years of driving a bus. He was known for his stubborn nature, but even more so for his enormous heart and the love he had for his family.
He was a devoted husband to his adoring wife of 61 years, Barbara. Together they built a life and a family filled with memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Johnie is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Wyatt; his children, Kenny and Melissa; his sister Vicki, 11 grandchildren, Courtney, Lindsey, Emily, KJ, Kiara, Tabi, Tori, Dustin, Sami, McKayla, and Cory; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Lillian Wyatt; his siblings, Brenda, and Billy Don; his grandson, Colin; his great-grandson, Kolsyn; and his brother-in-law, Willie.
Johnie leaves behind a family who will miss his stubborn spirit, his loving heart, and all of the little things that made him who he was. His family takes comfort in knowing that his love will continue through the many lives he touched and the generations he helped create.
Though he is no longer here, Johnie will forever be loved, remembered, and missed.
One of Johnie's last request was for friends and family to wear UK attire in honor of his love for the Wildcats, though this is not required.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40218. A funeral service in Johnie's honor will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
