She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Vanover Sr.; her mother, Norma Jean Vanover; and her brothers, Gregory Vanover and Raymond Vanover II.
Johnna is survived by her beloved children, Kadi Reece, Cody Reece, and Shelby Reece; her sisters, Stephanie Sallee (Mike) and Michele Atria (Vinnie); her brother, Vincent Vanover (Judy); and the light of her life- her grandson, Robert Lee Waiz IV, whom she lovingly referred to as “Riv.” She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Johnna loved playing cards, Texas hold em especially, and watching sports — cheering on her Kentucky Wildcats and her Indianapolis Colts. Despite her loyalty to the Cats, she was known to frequently attend University of Louisville games with her family and friends, often donning her infamous “purple shirt,” a source of many laughs and good-natured teasing.
Above all, her greatest joy was being “Mamaw” to Rivy Lee, soaking up every “huggie” and “kissie” he had to offer.
Johnna was known for her kindness, her open heart, her ability to truly listen, and always be there for those she loved. She had a gift for giving thoughtful advice, and for telling a good story — if you know, you know. She brought the fun with her everywhere she went and lit up every room she entered. She was the best Mother, Mamaw, Sister, and Friend — described by her children as a true angel on Earth.
Johnna will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love her.
Visitation will take place on Monday May 5, 2025 from 4pm-8pm at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home 2428 Frankfort Ave. Louisville, KY 40206.
