Johnny R. Jewell

Johnny Jewell, 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Myrtle Beach. John was a member of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville and attended Socastee Baptist in Myrtle Beach. He was a life long University of Kentucky Wildcats fan. He worked 50 years in telecommunications, South Central Bell, AT&T and Cincinnati Bell. He started offices in Lexington, KY for Lexington Lightwave and in Tampa for Adelphia Cable. He served as Operation Manger for both companies, he also worked for Level Three in Louisville where he was Operation Manager for the state of Kentucky. John finished his career at Time Warner in Myrtle Beach, SC and retired in 2017.

Those preceding him in death are his father, Jesse L. Jewell and a brother Robert Dennis Jewell. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rebecca Rose Jewell; daughter Amy Jewell Glover (Mark); granddaughters, Sydney and Kate Glover; mother, Margaret Northern Jewell; three sisters, Sandra J. Bashman (Charles), Anita D. Cahoe, and Kathy J. Kendall (Stoney); two nephews, four nieces, five great nephews and nine great nieces, and also his companion Chauncey.

All services will be held under the direction of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218. A visitation will be held on Thurs. Jan.17 from 4-8pm. Funeral service will be held Friday Jan. 18th at 10am with a burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Any donation can be made to Highview Baptist or Samaritan’s Purse.
