He was a retired electrician for P. Lorillard Tobacco and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Hutchins was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Louise Hutchins.
He is survived by his children, Joseph L. Hutchins, Belinda DeVore, and Allen Hutchins (Linda); six grandchildren, Crystal (Rob), Jennifer, Chuck (Julie), Ashley (Jesse), Chris (Amanda) and Amanda (Jake); and nine great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be on Saturday at 11am at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, with interment following in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 1pm until 8pm.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Kentucky Humane Society.
