OBITUARY
Joseph Rafferty
May 5, 1951 – March 23, 2018
Born to Joseph and Kathleen Rafferty on May 5, 1951 in Dublin, Ireland, Joseph “Joe” Rafferty left this world behind Friday, March 23rd at the age of 66. Joe was a jack of all trades. Once a Canadian Mounted Policeman, an actor, model, radio DJ, EMT, private investigator and telecommunications guru. His children thought of him as a human encyclopedia. He loved to read and there were few topics that he wasn’t educated on. Joe referred to himself as “the Master of BS” and had a charisma that could draw anyone into conversation. Joe loved music. Some of his favorites included John Denver, The Eagles, Gordon Lightfoot and The Beatles. He also enjoyed playing the guitar, dabbling in photography and learning about anything related to WWI and WWII. Joe was a comical man. He was very animated and loved to tell stories. He had a way of brightening room without even trying. You could always count him for anything, especially if you needed a flashlight or a pair of needle nose pliers. Joe is survived by his Wild and Crazy Rafferty Circus which includes his wife of 40 years, Lee, his children, Alexandra Gilbert (Chris), Carey Adair (Robert), Lauren Rafferty, David Rafferty (Candace) and his lively bunch of grandchildren, Brennan, Carson, Hannah, Peyton, Nolan Cameron, Hollyn, Marin, Crew, Declan and Fiona. As well as his sister and nephew, Annette and Matt Lewers of Toronto, Canada. Lastly he leaves behind his faithful and loyal dogs, Gus and Elle. Joseph is preceded in passing by his parents, Joseph and Kathleen Rafferty of Toronto, Canada. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 29th at 6pm. The family invites everyone to please join them after the service to enjoy refreshments and visit with them at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Hosparus Health of Louisville. My deepest condolences to Joe's family. We were neighbors on McGregor Dr. when our family lived there. He was a great neighbor who was never at a loss for words. I enjoyed talking with him. He always talked about his family, singing their praises. He will be greatly missed.

What a beautiful tribute to Joe! I had the pleasure to know Joe through our work at Sprint and beyond. To say that Joe was a joyful man is such an understatement. His joy came from making others happy, which he constantly did. In the world of telecom there special moments and special people . Joe was both to so many of us. Peace be with you Lee and your family. Joe is with his best friend Jesus now

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of Joe. He was a very good man. I met Joe in the early 90's when my sons and his son David became lifelong friends. Joe was very smart and very funny. My sympathies are with Lee and his wonderful children. May he rest in peace.

Lee and Family,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I always enjoyed babysitting for you in Mississauga when the girls were little and having very lively discussions with Joe while you, Lee were the calming influence.
My love and thoughts are with you.

Lee and family,
I LOVE Joe's obituary!! It really captures his spirit, as much as words are able. It was such a gift to get to spend some time with you all while you were at the In-patient Unit. I so treasure all you shared with me about Joe--certainly I wish I would have had the opportunity for a conversation with him! Thank you for entrusting Hosparus to journey with you all during his final days on the earth plane. You were spiritual midwives for him as he gave birth to his spirit and moved into another Realm. Be at peace and no regrets. Peggy, Chaplain

I enjoyed seeing Joe at Krogers or Costco. I would always make sure I didn't have anything frozen in my cart, because I knew it would be a long conversation. Joe loved to talk, and I enjoyed listening. His enthusiasm was endearing. I would always go away with a smile. I am sure when Lee sent Joe to the grocery to pick up something, she knew it would be hours before he returned. Joe loved interacting with people, and I bet he made their day, like he did mine. I will miss him. But I can't help smiling, when I think of him. Now the angels are smiling, too.

Lee, I will always remember just talking with Joe, he never knew a stranger! Such a caring and kind person. That’s why you two made such a beautiful couple.
I pray you find comfort and peace at this difficult time knowing the Lord has called Joe home.
Much love to you and all your family.

To Lee & Family. My prayers are for all of you today.
Joe helped my son’s Boyscouts troop by coming from Buckner all the way to the Southend of Louisville. The scouts were working on their citizenship badge. Joe came got there before any of us, talked about the transition from one country to another, his green card & becoming a USA citizen. I will never forget that. Thanks Joe.
