

Joe was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of DuPont Manual High School, an Army Veteran of the Korean War, He served as Police chief for the City of Goose Creek for 35 years, Board of Directors of the Apple Valley Resort, past President of the Louisville Striper Club, Vice President of the National Reinforcing Steel Company, 59 year member of the Iron Workers local 70, a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, past Grand Knight of the Monsignor Newman Council and the State Secretary of The Knights of Columbus. Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter but what he cherished most, was his family.
Joe is preceded in death by his grandchild, Nathaniel Wise, two sisters, Frances and Jane, and his loving parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce Ann Wise (Likins); daughters, Pamela Palmquist (Jeff), Roxanne Buttorff (Rick) and Brenda Martin. Sons, Joseph B. Wise III (Debbie), David A. Wise (Carolyn), Douglas R. Wise (Deanna) and Jeffrey S. Wise (Kim), sister, Phyllis Thompson, two brothers, Charles Wise (Gaila) and Ronald Wise (Linda); 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon on Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Dr, Louisville KY 40222, with interment to follow at Calvery Cemetery. Friends are invited to pay their respects 2-8 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 and 2-8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Road.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Bernadette Building fund or the American Lung Association.
