Joshua Diaz, 14, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Josh was born in Louisville, KY, in 2005. He had just completed his freshman year at Fern Creek Traditional High School, holding a grade point average of 3.9. Josh was active in the Best Buddy program, designed to end social and physical isolation of people with intellectual and development disabilities. His future plans included applying to the University of Kentucky, for both education and up close support of his Wildcats.
From road trips with his brother and sister to unaccompanied flights to New Mexico to spend summers with cousins, Joshua traveled the country. He’s dipped his toes in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, the Gulf of Mexico, Lake Michigan, and countless rivers and lakes. He’s reached the highest heights of New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and St. Louis. His love of sports carried him to professional and collegiate ballgames; including a trip with his mom to Rupp Arena, a trip with his dad to The NCAA Sweet 16 and the Elite 8, and trips with his family to numerous ballparks and arenas around the country.
Away from his travels, he was always happy to return to his home, his Habitat. An avid gamer, he worked as support for others in the gaming community, including his brother and sister. Through the course of their joint gaming sessions, they realized how much they needed each other, and how much they could accomplish together.
Visitation will be 11am-7pm Tuesday, June 2 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY 40213. His funeral service will be private on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.
