Joyce was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on July 25, 1948, to Iva and Eula Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Iva and Eula Hill; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Joyce Hill; her sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Terry Matillar; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arthur and Irma Bailey; her precious fur baby, Nala; and the love of her life, Raymond Bailey.
Joyce leaves behind a family who adored her, including her three daughters: Cindy Clark (Melvin), Stacey Giles (Steve), and Tonya Johnston (Ray). She was a proud Nannie to her nine grandchildren: Kasey Graham, Kristen Farris (Trey), Jeremy Johnston (Teresa), Kortney McNelly (Matthew), Brent Clark, Beth Clark, Bailey Johnston, Kaden Clark, and Ethan Giles. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Yasmin Johnston, Jaylee Johnston, Amelia McNelly, and Charlotte McNelly; one great-great-grandchild, Azayvin Johnson; and a special niece, Terri Thompson. She is also survived by several beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Joyce dedicated much of her career to Beacon, where she faithfully served for 20 years before retiring in 2012. Her love for her work and the people she worked with brought her back in 2018 in a part-time role, which she continued until her illness no longer allowed her to work.
Family was the center of Joyce’s world. She treasured every opportunity to gather with those she loved, whether for game nights, cookouts, holiday celebrations, or simply spending time together. She never passed up the chance to try her luck at the slot machines and always enjoyed the excitement and fun they brought. But her greatest joy was being “Mom” to her daughters and “Nannie” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the pride and joy of her life, and the love she poured into her family will continue to live on through each of them.
Those who knew Joyce will remember her for her kind heart, her strength, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who were blessed to know and love her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The American Cancer Society.
