As I sit here and read all the memories people have shared I smile inside.  You were a good hearted person.  And yes everything they have said was true.   You definitely showed me, Kathy, the only daughter-in-law you had, I'm proud to say the love and respect I deserved.  You taught me how to make your famous potato salad.  I remember you each time I make it.  You truly worked hard at pleasing everyone and this was very hard.  You supported your children even when you didn't agree with their choices.  This represented a "mothers love"-unconditionally.  You prayed for them to reach their goals in life.
You will be missed Joyce, especially around the holidays.  It will be very hard moving forward without you here.  But I know you're not suffering now and you're at peace.  Until we meet again in spirit.  I love you, Kathy Farris  :)

I am sorry that I could not make it to the funeral home.  I would love to see all of you grown up since the last time I probably saw you was when you were kids.  I will always feel like we are still family.  I will keep you in my prayers that the pain of your mother/grandmothers loss will ease as each day passes.  Only God can heal your broken hearts.  I woke up Wednesday morning just like every other day, I went to school, and came home. Wednesday night my dad called me and told me we needed to go somewhere. I asked him where we was going but he wouldn't tell me, we pulled up in front of university of louisville hospital. I didn't know what was going on I started to panic. We ran inside and I seen my mom crying. My grandmas gone, I know she's in a better place but this stinks, everyone keeps telling me "God only gives you what you can handle, on your shoulders" and "it gets better" and so much more but they don't get how closes we was. I have this big hole in my heart now and it feels so empty, everyone's asking how I'm doing and I just keep saying I wish I had a magic wand. I don't want to to be gone, but I don't want you to be in pain. And I know this is going to be hard to get through but I'm your "brat" and your "brat" only. And I also know your with grandpa, Tiffany, chunky, grandpa Lou, And I know you guys are all up there togather. I can't wait to see you guys all again. Someday. I love you grandma Joyce. Rip 2/17/16

mom,you will be in my heart forever,i will miss your smile,i will miss your wonderful meals on the holidays! I remember every time you called you'd say "what are you doing?'and I say "talking to you' then you'd "steven farris just wait till I get a hold of you! I remember taking a piece of the puzzle you were working on and when you got finished there was 1 piece missing ,I kept it for about 10 days, you said I looked every where for that piece! you were mad but thought it was funny also.up until she was about 75 I don't think I knew anyone who could outwork her, she would clean gutters, trim trees, haul debri, move furniture ,fridges etc.! I'm one of the hardest workers I know and she would outlast me! ill always cherish the Earnhardt/coke blanket she made me,and the puzzle she gave me, she loved putting puzzles together, she loved her flowers and statues, she made many quilts,  she made all of her children, grandchildren, great and great-great children feel special.i don't think she ever realized how much she was loved by all of us.steven

she was unlike any other. I know her life revolved around grandpa and her children and grandchildren. I will never forget staying with them for one summer and learning so much from her. not just how to make her famous cheescake but about life and giving your all for the ones most important in your life. sacrificing yourself for those who need you. love you grandma.

Joyce Farris was a wonderful person and a lot of fun to be around.  She has shown kindness to all she has come in contact with.  Miss you.
