Joyce went to Central High School and then onto U of L where she studied Medical Technology. She worked as a Medical Technologist in the Microbiology Department at Baptist Health Louisville for over 35 years. She was a valued and respected coworker and friend, and beloved by all who knew her.
She was a very devoted daughter, caring for her two aging parents all while working full time.She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to volunteer in the Christmas Choir at Baptist Health Louisville. She was a very talented artist, drawing pictures and portraits for her close friend's children and they often referred to her as “Grandma Joyce.” She would talk about her late dog Higgins, who she loved dearly. Joyce would also tell stories about her red 280Z that she used to own, and loved to drive fast.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, Ruth and her father, William P. Rivers.
Funeral service will be Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11 AM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY 40218.
