Joyce was a retired employee of The US Census Bureau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Grace Schroeder, and her sister, Donna S. Schroeder.
She is survived by her sons: Curtis D. Ables (Jeanie), Christopher D. Ables (Keeley), Craig D. Ables, Carey D. Ables: daughter, Caren D. Ables and her brother James R. Schroeder II; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
In her personal life, Joyce was an avid football and basketball fan, cheering for the University of Louisville and also the University of Kentucky. She enjoyed traveling and fishing, which brought her much joy over the years.
Visitation will be held at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, located at 7710 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, on November 6, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on November 7, 2025, from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00 pm at the same location. Cremation to follow.
Joyce will be remembered fondly by her family and all who knew her.
