March 3, 1953 – July 22, 2025
Judy Ann Foushee Hendrix, 72, of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 3, 1953, in Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Mary Jean Miller and Joseph Marion Foushee.
Judy had a contagious sense of humor, always quick with a laugh and a beautiful smile. Her goofy faces and lighthearted spirit brightened the lives of all who knew her. She was truly “good as gold” to everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Judy spent her early years at St. Joseph Orphanage on Frankfort Avenue with her brothers and sisters. She often said she didn’t know anything different and thought that’s how everyone lived. She attended St. Stephen Martyr through the 8th grade and graduated from Atherton High School in 1971.
Never afraid to get her hands dirty, Judy was always ready to help, whether cooking, gardening, fishing, walking nature trails, or just being present for others. She had a deep appreciation for the world around her; especially the mountains of Tennessee and Georgia, where Heaven’s Peak was a favorite spot. She loved flowers, animals, babies, and anything miniature. Bird watching - and yes, even Tweety Bird - brought her joy.
She cherished every moment raising her two children, Erik and Kelly, and spending time with her grandchildren. She shared a special relationship with her stepdaughter Jessica. Her loyal Blue Heeler, Buddy was a treasured companion in her later years.
Judy will be dearly missed by her devoted husband of 27 years, R. Wayne Hendrix; her children Erik Buehner (Amber), Kelly Shanks, and Jessica Perry (Chad); her grandchildren Anna, Jacob, and Adam Buehner; Lauren, Tyler, and Grant Shanks; Oakley and Preston Dunn; and her siblings Madeline Foushee, Ronnie Foushee (Tonya), Diana Anson (Keith), Bruce Foushee (Faye), and Wanda Braden, as well as her uncle Kenny Miller. She is also remembered fondly by her brother-in-law Leonard Hendrix.
A special thank you to Jessica and the incredible Hosparus team for making it possible for Judy to be at “Home Sweet Home” in her final days.
A visitation for Judy will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM.
