Kathryn E Smith

Kathryn Eloise Smith, age 78, passed away on February 18, 2026. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, to Kenneth E. Harris and Mary L. Welch Harris on August 6, 1947. Her family will remember her as an animal lover. There wasn’t an animal in the world that Kathy wouldn’t fight for. She didn’t just love her pets, which were many over the years, she also donated a lot of money and time to support animals all over the world. She was also a people person. Kathy loved playing BINGO with her friends and loved her family deeply. She will be missed.

Along with her parents, Kathy is preceded in death by her twin brother Kenny Harris.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rebecca “Becky Smith” Sherrell and her husband Anthony Sherrell; her granddaughter, Maryna Sherrell; her honorary daughter, Pam McCool; her good friends, Pat, Sandy, and Paula; and numerous cousins and other beloved family members.

A visitation for Kathy will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM with a funeral service to follow in the same location on the same day beginning at 12:00 PM.

She will be entombed at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be made in Kathy’s name to the animal shelter of your choice.
