Kathy Jane Shaughnessy

September 4, 2026.

Kathy dedicated 30 years of her life to educating and inspiring children, including 25 wonderful years teaching at St. Gabriel. Whether she was guiding students in the classroom or coaching them on the field, she shared a true passion for working with young people. Always active and involved, Kathy consistently encouraged those around her and stood ready to lend a helping hand.

Known for her deeply giving and caring nature, Kathy loved sewing,

cooking, and making sure everyone around her was having a good time. She held a special talent for making people feel immediately welcome and cared for, and her creativity, generosity, and joyful spirit touched the lives of so many.

One of Kathy’s greatest joys was spending time outdoors, especially when she was near the water. After her retirement, she and her beloved husband, Barry, spent their days traveling and exploring new places together. Whether they were traveling by boat or by RV, they were always creating special memories and enjoying life's adventures side by side.

Above all else, Kathy treasured her family. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, the love she carried for her family was immeasurable. Though she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, the memories she created and the lives she touched will be cherished forever.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Warren Crain and Geneva Hardin. Left to cherish and carry on her beautiful memory are her beloved husband of 55 years, Barry Shaughnessy; her children, Corey Shaughnessy and Kelly Marino (Stephen); her grandchildren, Kayla, Austin, Shelby, Zoey, Samantha, and Hannah; her great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family members and dear friends.

A memorial visitation will be held in Kathy's honor on Thursday,

September 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218.
