

Kenneth Raymond Bray, age 75, of Louisville Kentucky passed away on August 27, 2023 at his home with the comfort of his family and friends by his side. Kenneth lost his battle with cancer after putting up a vigorous fight. Despite spending most of that time in and out of the hospital, he never lost his faith in God or people. Kenneth never lost his sense of humor during his journey whereas he would crack jokes and make silly faces with his grandchildren. Kenneth had the ability to light up a room with just his mere presence and he always had the ability to make people feel at home and welcomed. Kenneth attended Mass at St. Edwards Catholic Church. Kenneth will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Kenneth was born to Joseph A. Bray and Clara M. Bray on February 21, 1948 in Louisville Kentucky. Kenneth graduated from Iroquois High School and he was known as one of the best basketball players for the Iroquois Raiders proudly wearing jersey number 15. After graduating high school Kenneth enlisted into the United States Navy where he served in the Vietnam War with Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 302. Upon returning from the war, Kenneth completed his electrician training where he earned his Master Electrician for IBEW local 369. Kenneth later went on to work as a Master Electrician at International Harvester and American Synthetic Rubber Co. where he retired. After retirement, Kenneth enjoyed life between his home in Louisville and at Nolin Lake with his dogs and wife, Amy Bray. He enjoyed taking trips to the beach, fishing, hunting, the Smoky Mountains, and just overall being anywhere with the people he loved. Kenneth loved the holidays when his family was all together enjoying each other’s company with tons of food and laughter.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Amy Bray (Louisville), his son Joseph E. Bray (Bedford), his daughter Crystal L. Heinz (Andy – Milton), Amy’s children namely Tracey Risk (Derek – Louisville), Nikki Rutledge (Kevin – Louisville), Robby Hayes (Alex – Louisville), his brother James Ronald Bray (Emily – Louisville) his brother Thomas D. Bray (Cherie – Louisville) and his sister, Brenda Koehler (Denis – Louisville). Eight grandchildren, Hannah, Justin, Madison, Cooper, Claire, Carter, Hadley, Riley and one great grandchild Owen, as well as several loving nieces and nephews. Kenneth was predeceased by his parents Joseph A. Bray and Clara M. Bray, his sisters, Mary Jo Wientijes (Jimmy) and Catherine Benningfield.
Kenneth’s funeral service will be held on September 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park located at 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. Kenneth’s visitation will be on Thursday the 31st day of August, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and on September 1, 2023 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
