Kenneth John "Ken" Martin

Ken was best known for his love of cooking Italian food. He enjoyed family card night, music, bowling and dancing. Friends, family and faith were most important to him.

Ken had a love for fun and was known as the “life of the party”. He never met a stranger, had a one in a million sense of humor and could put a smile on anyone’s face. Ken was a servant leader and a follower of Jesus Christ.

Ken was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church and Teamsters Local 89. In his early years he was an over the road truck driver for J.J. Carter & Sons, Bekin Van Lines. In Ken’s later years he was a Luetinant Security Officer for Burns International Security, working for Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, Cave Hill Cemetery, and U.P.S.

Ken has left to cherish in his memory, wife of 47 years, Shirley; children, Brenda Hurd and Janet Bell (James), Kenneth W. Martin (Becky Bryson); grandchildren, Lindse Mitchell (Nick Murphy), Jordan, Cydney, Destiny; and many other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Deer Park Baptist Church, 1733 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40205, with a private entombment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy, and 9am-11:30am on Saturday at Deer Park Baptist Church.

Memorial donations in honor of Ken may be directed to Deer Park Baptist Church (envelopes provided at the funeral home).
