Randy was born on November 18, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from DeSales High School in 1970 and later from Metro Data College in Computer Programming. Randy spent more than 40 years in the car business here in Louisville, a career he truly loved. Most of those years were spent at Montgomery Chevrolet and Bachman Commercial, where he retired in 2018. Throughout his career, Randy received numerous awards and recognitions for his dedication, knowledge, and success in the industry. While he appreciated the honors, he was most proud of the relationships and lifelong friendships he built along the way.
On October 3, 2003, Randy married his best friend and soulmate, Jan. Together they created a beautiful blended family and a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Randy was an incredibly proud Papaw. He adored his grandchildren and could always be found cheering them on at sporting events, taking them fishing, or enjoying family holidays together. He especially loved adding his trivia into the grandkids' scavenger hunts, making every game a little more fun—and a little more competitive.
Randy loved planning adventures for himself and Jan. Whether close to home or far away, he was always ready for the next trip—researching, planning, and making sure every detail was just right. Seeing Jan's excitement was his favorite part. He also fulfilled a lifelong dream when they purchased a lake home on Lake Cumberland. There, Randy enjoyed relaxing, boating, or fishing, it was truly his happy place. Randy enjoyed spending time with his siblings and cousins. They always had such a good time together. He often shared stories of growing up together and the fond memories shared at his grandmother's farm.
Randy was always good for a story—he remembered everything. His friends at his beloved Woodhaven Country Club knew this well. A proud member since 1983, Randy was often found in his favorite seat, with Jan eventually right beside him. He was affectionately known as "the luckiest guy at Woodhaven." Randy would say that was true, but not for the reasons people thought—he felt lucky because of the friendships he cherished so deeply. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him there and beyond.
Randy was dearly loved and will never be forgotten. The mark he left on the lives of others— whether for a moment or a lifetime—will always remain.
Randy was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Emily, and his parents, Kermit and Marie Lashley.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Lashley; his loving children, Amy (Cary) Pooler, Kim (Joe) Abbott, Donny (Kim) Burbrink, and Jamie (Andrew) Sturgeon; his cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Ashley, Austin, Avery, Ben, and Gemma; and his siblings, Les (Dawn) Lashley, Camille Lashley, and Yvonne (Carl) Meeks.
