Larry G Hay

Larry G. Hay, 70, entered into eternal life peacefully with his family by his side February 4, 2022. Larry is preceded in passing by his parents George K. and Ruby S. Hay. Larry is survived by his wife Cheryl M.(Murphy) of 47 years and their two daughters Jennifer (Jenn) M. and Laura M. Hay; his brother and sister Mike Hay and Donna (Hay) Estes; many Smith cousins including Brenda Whitson Keckler (Port Clinton, OH); brother-in-law Pat Murphy and sister-in-law Donna (Kevin) Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was a proud graduate of the class of 1969 from Seneca High School and University of Louisville class of 1973. Larry started his career as an engineer for Honeywell and turned entrepreneur of several successful businesses.

Larry was a strong man with great faith in the Lord and lived every second of his life accordingly. Larry loved his family (and his many dogs throughout the years) immeasurably. He was always happy being the handy-man for anyone in need, eager to start any and all projects that would come his way, no matter how big or small. Larry sincerely treasured the friendships he made along his journey. Larry was a man of many talents and wonderful attributes. His sense of humor, contagious laugh, smile and his gift of eloquently stating anything are among a few. Larry enjoyed being active his whole life starting with Little League at Buechel Park Baptist Church, his senior men’s softball leagues and even at the age of 70, mini-marathons. Other activities ranged from hiking, swimming, traveling and the beach.

Larry was an avid sports fan but his favorites included NY Yankees, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, the Dallas Cowboys, UK and UL. You could find Larry at a ballpark with family/friends, reading, solving cross-word and Sudoku puzzles and engaging in meaningful conversations about the Lord. Larry was a kind, generous, family-centered, smart, humble, chivalrous, and intelligent man, the best husband and perfect gentleman a wife could have, the best Daddy any daughter could dream of and the best friend to anyone lucky enough to call him one.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to USA Cares of Louisville for our Veterans or Kentucky Humane Society.
