It’s July 2025 now and Mom has been gone for a few years now. This is Ted and I am 64. I think about Mom allot these days, I Miss her. Those memories with her and my brothers and sisters are in my head more and more it seems. I remember you Mom, your always with me. I’m getting tired being here and am looking forward to seeing you one day. I still have allot of family who needs me here. So when that’s done I will be ready. I Love You Mama!

I'm so sorry we lost contact with each other after you moved. Thank you for bringing joy into Jerry's and my life and for letting me be your sponsor when you came into the church and when you made your Cursillo.  You were a blessing and an inspiration to us and to all that met you.  Give God a hug for me.

I am Ted, the oldest Son of Lattie Smith. What Words can I say about a Lady who gave me Everything. Mom and Dad adopted me at 1 month. Mom stayed Home with her Children until my father passed in 1971. I never felt more secure then when I was in my Mothers arms. She gave me everything I needed to be a Very Happy Boy. There was not a Holiday or Birthday that went by that Mom didn't go all out for. So many good memories of Easter egg hunts, Christmas trees, Birthday cakes and Moms New Years Eve punch. We all loved her punch so much. She continued those traditions with Her Grandbabies and Great Granbabies. Oh and Mom could Cook! Every Sunday after Church it was eggs and fried potatoes. My children always asked for them on their visits to her house. She made the girls, my sisters, Beautiful dresses before Dad passed away and never missed an Opportunity to take pictures of them. So many pictures of Our family fill many albums. So many good memories, they make me want it all back. I Wish I could go back and put my Arms around her again. I would tell her how Special she is to me and how much I Love her. I could not have asked for a More Perfect Mother. She helped so many people, gave to so many Charities for so many years. I Love You So Much Mom. I know Your with Dad now. I know Your Happy and one day I will see You again. I will see You again Mom. Thank You God for giving me the time I had with her. 

Stephanie was my best friend in elementary school. I would go and hang out with her and her grandma Lattie after school sometimes. Lattie was the dictionary definition of grandma. Always had snacks for the kids, always had a kind listening ear, and would always help if anyone was in any sort of dilemma. When I was in 5th or 6th grade I Wanted to get my mom a blanket for Christmas. Lattie helped me pick something so I could surprise her and even stitched a personal message in it for me so that I could give my mom something really nice. That’s hard to do as a kid! My mom still has that blanket and I’ll always have the memory of hunting around the store with Lattie and Stephanie for it. Thank you for letting me share this memory.

Lattie is preceded in death by her loving parents Leon and Nell Heggie, husband “Smitty”, daughter Wanda, sisters Patsy, Laverne, Joy, June, brother W.L, daughter Wanda, grandchildren Bo and Sue and sons-in-law Bob Lockard, James Robinson.


She is survived by children, Ted (Wendi), Eddie, Ned (Gulden), Rhonda (Denis) Sherrell, Vonda Lockard, Saundra Robinson; sister, Joyce Mills; brother, Niles Heggie; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren
