Lela Mae Gibson, 86, of Louisville passed from this life on Wednesday November 26, 2014. She was born on May 3, 1928 in Pineville, KY to the late Curtis Paul Rice and Lela Beatrice Robbins. A 9 year resident of Summerfield Health & Rehab, she was a former healthcare worker and a member of Southside Baptist Church for over 50 years where she also taught Sunday School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Gibson; and her siblings, Julia Meyers, Betty Leger, Birchel Rice, & Ray Rice. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary (Brenda Rose), & David (Suzanne) Gibson; Kathy (Sudhakar) Neti, and Cecilia (Glenn)Elliott; siblings, Eva Cox, Ethel Freese, and Jimmie Rice; half- sister, Jodie (Howard) Strickland; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gibson will be held at 12 noon on Saturday December 6, 2014 in the Southern Chapel of Arch L.
