In my work with Fern Creek/Highview United Ministries (1996-2018), it was both my pleasure and honor to know Gussie for over 20 years. As a member of St. Gabriel, she was a devoted volunteer and supporter. We also had contact through her Red Hat Society activities as well. Especially, in the ten years prior to my retirement at the end of 2018, I looked forward to her invitations for me to visit at her home when she had collected items for FCHUM's Gala auction. In spite of any aches and pains, she was always ebullient, vivacious; always a smile upon her face. Her laughter was like music; a music I will fondly remember. I will be making a contribution to FCHUM in her dearest memory. You have my deepest condolences. Blessings, Rev. Ron Loughry, retired.

We are so sorry for your loss. Gussie was one in a million, a loving, caring, genuine and funny person. We will love her always and miss her. She was so good to our family. We will cherish the great times we had with the Johnson family on Plumwood Road. She always had such good advice for me and I will always remember.

Love,
Mike and Debbie Pratt

When I became friends with Karla, I was blessed to gain Gussie as a bonus. She brought so much fun and laughter to every occasion, and taught all of us the importance of lifelong friendships. Thank you for the fun memories, dear Gussie. I know we will all laugh together again one day.

To all my cousins my heart is sad for you
Aunt “Auggie” as we called her was always in our hearts. She came to NC
When special occasions happened
She came to daddy’s 80 birthday even though he had remarried. She sent me graduation money to ride the train to visit but I rode the bus. Keith was there and Kim was in crib and Karla was in the womb We had such a great time.
May God’s blessings and comfort be with all

Awww, Gussie. I can’t believe I’m seeing your sweet smile here. Our lives touched in so many ways over many, many years and many events at St. Gabriel. We walked the old neighborhood together so many times, and when I didn’t walk, you made it a point to pass by my house to say hello. You never failed to ask about my sons, especially “our boy” Trevor. He loved you dearly, as did countless others. Sporting events, fish frys, working funeral meals, Saturday night mass…so many memories, all good. You truly were the life of the party. I always appreciated your honest, tell-it-like-it-is opinions. This world has lost one of the good ones. Rest with the angels, dear friend.

My Aunt Gus, How lucky we where to have you care for us while we where growing up. I have such fond memories of sharing so many childhood memories with you & Uncle Bill. I could not have asked for a better aunt to love and care for us. My heart is broken but what brings me peace is that I know where you are. You're smiling , happy and you're at peace. I will miss your contagious laughter the most. I love you always.

We used to walk with Gussie at the gym. What a character she was. Always teasing someone about something! She will certainly be missed. So sorry for your loss
