My sincere heartfelt sympathy on the loss of Chief Jones. I considered him to be a friend and colleague as I was on the Elizabethtown City Council during the time he served as our Chief of Police. I had contact with him after he left to return to Jefferson County. (As well as with his son, Eddie, Jr.) Chief Jones was a true professional and dedicated public servant. I consider him to be the best Chief we had during my 32 yrs on the Council. I valued his friendship as well as his service. I know he dearly loved his profession and his family. I was shocked and saddened by his passing. Please know that the family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Chief Jones was a fantastic person in so many respects and I always enjoyed working with him. He was always responsive to whatever issues came his way. I’ve often thought of him over the past years and I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. We lost a good one .........

We’ve not only lost a brother but a dear friend. So grateful for the many years of golf, game nights, and endless belly holding laughs. Thank you for loving my sister and the precious family you gave us. You’ve left quite a legacy my friend and the world is better because you were here. Always in our thoughts and prayers, we'll miss you!

I started my career with Leon in May of 1964 at the JCPD recruit school. It lasted all of 4 weeks and we graduated as highly trained and motivated police officers (LoL) who had every intention in the world of righting wrongs and bringing justice to all. That lasted until we had been on the street for a couple of days and then things changed. But Eddy always seemed to be positive and inspired me and others to do the best we could and once you became his friend he was your friend forever. He was a great guy and will be missed by everyone that knew him. May god bless him and his family.
