We are so very sorry for your loss Barbara, Hope and family.  We didn't really get the chance to know Leon, but from the wonderful stories I heard from Hope, he was a real gem.  We will never forget his smile as he greeted us when walking by the Arizona house on those beautiful sunny days.  Our thoughts are with all of you and praying for comfort and strength during this very difficult time.

A dear Brother-in- Law, whom I saw more as a brother.  A kind, cordial, and gracious traveling companion.  A real patriot who loved his country and "wore his faith on his sleeve" being very proud of both.  A great "grillmeister of brats" and humble champion of Dominoes.  Most of all though a devoted husband to his dear wife Barb, always beside her in everything they lived.  I will miss you greatly and will hold on to the wonderful memories I have until I can see you face to face again.   

My dearest Brother.   I've know you since I was 5 years old.  You were an integral part of my entire life.  I loved every moment we shared together (and there were many), I loved every  vacation we shared, every holiday or family gathering, every dinner, every game night, every picnic and every belly laugh only you and I could muster up.    But what I remember and love the most is how you never failed to make me feel so very special.  You were the best big brother a girl could ever have.  Most importantly, you definitely showed everyone where you were going when you left this world.   I thank you for that and for the comfort that I'll see you again.  Love, Ben

       Leon married my sister when I was 5 years old. I don’t remember my life when he wasn’t in it, so to me he IS my brother. He loved me so much & always had a hug for me when I visited. He had such a kind gentle spirit & seemed to always be smiling. 
       When I was in grade school he would drive me & Bennie to school in his tiny car with no doors—a BMW Isetta. The whole front of the car opened & we stepped in. Our friends thought we were so lucky to have a brother like that with such a cool car. And Leon beamed with pride when we were with him. 
       I remember staying with them when he was stationed in Arlington, VA & again in Tucson, AZ. He opened his home  & treated me like one of his children. He was such a generous man. 
        Leon loved Jesus more than anything & was so humble with his faith. He walked the walk & talked the talk so no one ever had to question where he stood. He served The Lord with everything he had. 
       I love Leon with all my heart & consider myself one of the luckiest girls alive to have had such a loving Christian brother. I will miss you. Love Jo

I always admired uncle Leon's calm and loving personality and hard work ethic.  But more than that, his love for Jesus.  He conquered the trials of this life with his head held high knowing all along where his forever home is.  He will be missed but I can't help but smile knowing he is in a place of pure joy with no more worries of pain and sadness.

My Uncle Leon was such a wonderful man. He taught me a lot. How to love, trust God, and live a good life. 
I used to talk to him about my living situation when I was young. I really had a dislike for one particular person and how she treated me. He always found the time to help me through it and tried to convince me to love this person regardless. He showed me God’s Love and mercy during these talks. I’ll never forget that. 
Aunt Barb is the luckiest woman to have a man like him.
