Lillian Ruth Amos, age 90, of Kentucky, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord after a life devoted to faith, family, and service to others. She was born in Baizetown, Kentucky, on September 11, 1935, to Offie and Lena Daugherty.
Lillian married her high school sweetheart, Huey Amos, on May 16, 1952, and together they shared a loving marriage and built a wonderful family. They raised four children: Mike, Linda, Debbie, and Sherri.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Huey Amos, on February 15, 2000, and by her cherished daughter, Sherri, on June 30, 2020. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters Edith Whitaker and Kathy Evans, and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
For many years, Lillian worked at Willie's Florist and Belmar Florist, where she became known for her warm smile, kind heart, and gentle spirit. She spent her life caring for others, beginning as the oldest daughter in a large family and continuing throughout her life in countless quiet acts of love and service.
After retiring, Lillian devoted some of her time to volunteering at the school attended by her grandchildren, Krystal and Nicholas. Her dedication and caring nature earned her a Volunteer Award, a reflection of the impact she made on the lives around her.
Family was the center of Lillian's life. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she had a special gift for making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Whether related by birth, marriage or by friendship, she treated each person as family and made them feel equally cherished.
Her home was the gathering place for treasured family celebrations. Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas were filled with laughter, love, and traditions that will live on for generations. At Christmas, Lillian carefully made sure each family member, young and old, received the same number of presents. Her homemade sausage balls became a favorite family tradition that everyone eagerly anticipated each year.
Lillian loved her church home, Highview Baptist Church, and cherished her Sunday School class and home Bible study group. It was common to see her with her Bible close at hand, reflecting the deep faith that guided her life. She also enjoyed playing cards at the Wilderness Center, traveling on Toby Tours with the LiveWires, and spending time with friends in the Red Hat Club.
Lillian will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering faith, loving devotion to family and friends, and the joy she brought to everyone that was fortunate enough to know her.
