In loving memory of Linda Gail Swords Lose, who departed this world on December 17th after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. Linda was born in Portsmouth, Ohio and was raised in Auburn, Kentucky. After graduating high school and attending Western Kentucky University, she moved to Louisville, where she married Mike and raised her family. She was a loving wife, devoted Mommy to her three daughters and a cherished MiMi to ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as numerous step-grandchildren and great step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eileen “Tootsie” Swords of Auburn, Kentucky, brother John Swords, and beloved sisters, Debbie Evans and Lorie Martin. She is survived by her husband Mike, her three daughters, Kim (Bryan), Christy (Charles), and Carrie (Chris), 5 siblings and countless nieces and nephews.
Linda found joy in her relationships with her brothers and sisters, friends, and her beloved dog, Sophie. She described purple as her “Power Color” and did not allow her illness to prevent her from enjoying her passions for travel and style. Even as she battled cancer, she made sure to spend her last year traveling to several of her favorite vacation spots, including Atlantic City, Reno, Las Vegas, and Biloxi.
Above all, Linda treasured her family – her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and Sunday School students were her greatest joys. Even in her last days, her greatest concern was for the well-being of the members of her family. Her nurturing nature, unconditional love, and unapologetic strength were the pillars that bound the family together.
To celebrate Linda’s love for her family, Mike and her daughters and sons-in-law invite family and friends to the following visitation and services at Arch L. Heady and Sons at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218
