

She was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky on December 9, 1929 to the late Granville and Hazel Ford Gilbert. She was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 51 years, Floyd Thomas, in 1999. Lois was a retired switchboard operator, having retired from Meridian Insurance.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her son, Michael Thomas; daughters, Debra Chotkevys (Don), Monica Fitzner (Chuck), and Denise Starr (Mark); four sisters, June Jones, Shirley French, Brenda Skaggs and Donna Burress; her brother, Wendell Gilbert; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Special thanks to Hospice in His Care of Baton Rouge who provided medical treatment, personal care and fellowship for her and the family. Also, to Comfort Keepers and Carolyn Williams for the needed assistance in her care and friendship.
Her celebration of life service will be held Friday at Noon at the Arch L. Heady and Sons Southern Funeral Home located at 3601 Taylor Blvd. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Cave Hill Cemetery.
