Lois Fay Willinger, 89, passed away on May 12, 2026. Born August 5, 1936, Lois lived a life marked by steadfast service, generous devotion, and a faithful spirit expressed most clearly through the way she cared for others. A longtime resident of Louisville, Kentucky, she made her home in Ambridge Drive, where warmth, family, and the miniature treasures she loved to collect were always close at hand. Lois served as Mayor of Lynnview for many years, offering steady leadership shaped by diligence and a sincere desire to help. Her hard work on behalf of her community was matched by a lasting commitment to charitable giving, including support for Goodwill, the Kling Center, and several organizations benefiting veterans. In each effort, she carried herself with quiet purpose and an enduring respect for the needs of others.
A devoted mother, Lois raised five children: Donnie Willinger Jr. (Elaine), Terri (Scott) Hayes, Mitzi (Tim) Sawyer, Marty (Chrisey) Willinger, and Jeff Willinger. She was beloved by her family and took deep pride in her fourteen grandchildren, and in her four great-grandchildren, brought into the family through Terri and Scott.
Lois’s Catholic faith guided her life with constancy. She lived her beliefs through her actions—through compassion, humility, and kindness offered without fanfare—leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. In quieter moments, Lois found joy in collecting miniatures, surrounding herself with detailed pieces that reflected her appreciation for life’s small beauties and the care found in thoughtful work. Her life remains a testament to love, service, and faithful devotion, and she will be deeply cherished and respectfully remembered. When you see a cardinal or the color blue, think of Lois with a smile.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Willinger; daughter-in-law, Elaine Willinger; grandson, Donald Thomas Hayes; and great-granddaughter, Harlow Smith.
