Lorraine was the youngest of nine children born to her parents, Helen and Harry Rutshaw. Living her dream job of being a registered nurse, she practiced in various positions in Chicago, but more notably, at Northwestern Hospital. She moved to Louisville in the early 80s and worked in geriatric nursing for Beverly Healthcare until her retirement. Lorraine was incredibly kind and thoughtful, with a quick wit and always eager to help. She loved her wife of 17 years, Barbara Luckett.
In their too-short time together, she and Barbara traveled and spent lots of time on their screened-in patio and enjoyed their casino gambling. She loved road trips with white ‘traveling clouds', where she loved to listen to Joni Mitchell, Phoebe Snow, Barry Manilow, Barry White, and Teddy Pendergrass, to name a few of her music legends, especially if their destination was on the way to a beach.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Leona, Patty, Harriet, brothers Ralph, Leonard, Lester, and Art, brother-in-law, Bob Luckett and her former partner, Joann Abney.
She leaves her loving wife, Barbara, and her sister, Alice (Jim) Tripas, a sister-in-law, Karen Patteson, brothers-in-law; Tom (Vicki) Luckett, Jim (Alison) Luckett, Paul (Earlene) Luckett, and sisters-in-law, Martha Luckett and Jackie Farley, her dear friend Ruth Oglesby, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Arch L. Heady and Son Cralle Funeral Home, at 2428 Frankfort Avenue in Louisville, KY, on Monday, 5/12, from 11:00 to 3:00 with a service immediately following at 3:30 pm.
