Dr. Louis A. Holmes, 86, a native of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011. He was a graduate of Kokomo (IN) High School and the University of Louisville Dental School. He served as a corpsman in the US Navy during World War II and as a dentist during the Korean War. He practiced dentistry in several Indiana towns, including Jeffersonville and Columbus and worked many years at the Muscatatuck State Development Center. He retired to Richmond, IN, and spent the last five years of his life in Louisville, KY.
He is survived by his son, Douglass Holmes of Louisville, and his daughter, Martha Harding of West Lafayette, IN.
Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Friday, February 11 at the Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home at 7410 Westport Road.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, February 12, in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana on Saturday at Noon.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Middletown Christian Village, 11530 Herrick Lane, Louisville, KY 40243, where he spent the last five years of his life.
