Catherine “Lucille” Baker, 94, of South Louisville passed from this life on Friday February 19, 2016. She was the former Catherine Bast, a retired employee of the Jefferson County Board of Education, and a member of the old Shawnee Christian Church. Lucille was very active in her retirement years serving as a volunteer for many charitable organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. G. Baker; a daughter Carol Proffitt; her parents, Henry and Catherine Bast; brothers, Billy and Charles Bast; and a sister, Doris Nelligan. Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Catherine Faye Muncy; a brother, J. T. Bast; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A service to celebrate Mrs. Baker’s life will be held at noon Tuesday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with interment to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Monday. Memorial gifts may be made to the Easter Seals, Spinal Cord Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
