Lucille Carter

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Booker Sr. and Virgie Bell-Booker; her beloved husband, Billy F. Carter; son, James Henry Swain Sr. (widow Cherry); daughter, Rosalind “sister” Rondo (widower Dorsey); son, Rodney Swain; two sisters, Catherine Beauchamp and Mary Booker; and two brothers, Elzy Booker and Henry “Plunk” Booker Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons Ricky Swain and Billy C. Carter (Semone); daughters Anita Stum (Rev. Dale) and Denise Thompson (Dorian); (Jacquelyn Kirk, Carolyn Hatchett, Dwight Leach Sr. and Darryl Hodges Sr.); twenty grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren, and nineteen great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday at 1pm following visitation from 11-1pm at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church 840 south 26th street with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery 4623 Preston Highway.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Summerfield Nursing Home Green Unit, Roommate Ms. Shirley and CNA Patrice for the care of their mom.

We would like to send our gratitude to Park DuValle Senior Living staff and the residents. A special thanks to Mrs. Jean Davis, Mrs. Mildreth Shumaker, Mrs. Joyce Gray, Mrs.Charlene Fletcher, and Mrs. Mary Cooper.
