The eldest of eight children, Cora was born on January 21, 1955, in Manila, Philippines, to parents Drs. Gerardo and Josefina Sison. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1973, settling eventually in Louisville where she met and married the love of her life, Noel A. Javier on January 3, 1976. Together they raised two sons, Joseph and Noel.
Cora was a devoted servant of God and a member of the parish at Saint Albert the Great Catholic Church. She was also a loving wife and mother, a proud and doting grandmother, a beloved sister (“Achi”), a faithful daughter, a hospitable hostess, and a loyal employee of Norton Healthcare for more than 30 years. Traditional Filipino favorites like shanghai egg rolls and pansit were among her culinary specialties. She became an avid knitter later in life, was endeared by her worrying, could often be caught sneaking sweets, and never, ever turned down a trip to the mall.
Preceded in death by her father, Dr. Gerardo Sison, and her mother, Dr. Josefina P. Sison, Cora is survived by her husband, Noel A. Javier of Louisville; her sons, Joseph (Kelly Scullin) Javier of Chicago, IL, and Noel (Brooks Fuentes) Javier of Portland, OR; her adoring grandson, Deming Scullin-Javier; her siblings, Gino (Ginia) Sison, Pet (Mike) Markwell, Tony (Lea) Sison , Bob (Kim) Sison, Josephine Sison, Joseph (Lynn) Sison, Malou (Chris) Tobias.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Dr., with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Visitation will be offered from 4PM-8PM on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Sison, Javier, and Posadas families, extended family and friends, and those who loved her, laughed with her, and cared for her during her life and illness.
Expressions of sympathy may be given to St. Albert the Great Catholic Church or PANCAN Louisville.
