

Marie was a baby during the 1937 flood in Louisville and would often tell stories told to her of neighbors helping neighbors during that time and her family having to leave their home in the East end of downtown where flooding hit hard.
Marie met the love of her life, Stanley Flatt, Jr, in 1953 and they married on December 24, 1955. They were an inspiration to others throughout their 69 year marriage, living as an example to everyone around them of longevity and devotion. Stanley passed away in October 2025, just shy of their 70th wedding anniversary.
Marie worked as a young adult at Arlens Department Store and Woolworths in Louisville prior to the births of her kids when she became a full time homemaker. Marie was a devoted family member and friend with an infectious laugh that never failed to bring a smile to those around her. She is often remembered with fondness and love by her countless nieces and nephews as their favorite Aunt who would keep them at her house for periods of time prior to having her own kids.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters, seven sisters in law, one brother in law, and her husband of 69 years, Stanley Flatt, Jr. She is survived by her son Stanley Flatt III (Donna), daughters Gina Webb (Vernal) and Susie Licht (Karl), four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 12pm at Advantage Funeral Home Heady-Taylor, 3601 Taylor Blvd, Louisville, KY 40215 with entombment to follow at the Bethany Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26th from 2pm – 8pm and on Monday, July 27th from 10am – 12pm at the funeral home.
