Sandra,
Your mother was a dental patient of mine for 10 years back in the 1990s. We visited every 6 months and I always enjoyed talking with her. We discussed cooking often and I think of her every time I pull out her handwritten recipe cards for pumpkin bread with coconut and chocolate chip banana bread. I wondered if they were family favorites. They always receive rave reviews.

She was a very sweet lady and I will continue to think of her every time I read her recipes. You will be in my thoughts.

Aunt Sister, as we knew her, was a beloved member of her family. She enjoyed a long and abundant life of service to others, loved her family, and was committed to her faith in Jesus Christ. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Sandra, Tim and Eric and her great-grandchildren.

"Marie attended elementary grades at Elliott school. It was a one room school about 3.5 miles away. She and her cousin rode a horse each day taking turns for the position of 'up front or behind'. It was a 7 month school year - July through January. Because of distance and weather, the two were home schooled by Marie's mother (Dollye) during the last 4-6 weeks. Later Marie graduated from Burkesville High School, Lindsey Wilson Junior College, and Western University with a major in elementary education. She also attended U of L. she married William G. Sullivan shortly after the end of WWII. They lived in Columbia for 5 years and then moved to Louisville. They were married for 51 years. Marie retired after 35 years of teaching in Cumberland, Adair, Bullitt, and Jefferson counties. She now has 5 great-grandchildren, and their visits from South Carolina and Virginia are highlights for both Sandra and Marie." - conveyed to her grand-nephew, Russell Chowning in May, 2008
