Born to the late Steve Cheppo and Dorothy Misetich Cheppo, Mario is also preceded in passing by his son Michael Lawrence Cheppo. Here to carry on his memory is his adoring wife of 63 years, Edith Cheppo; their children Elaine Das-Cheppo (Peter), Caryn Cheppo-Najjar (Larry), Stephen Cheppo (Lori), and Dianne Cheppo; his grandchildren Jimmy, Kathryn (Harry), Chris, Yvonne, Paul, Michael, and Nicolas; his great-grandchildren Henry, Rupert, and one baby boy on the way; his siblings John Cheppo (Ann), and Mitzi Cheppo; and his nephews.
Mario was a proud U.S. Veteran. He joined the Army Paratroopers and served in the Korean War. He went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville, while lettering in football, baseball and track, inducting him in the Hall of Fame. Mario also coached football and baseball at UofL. He was also drafted by the Chicago Cardinals.
Mario went on to retire from Ford Motor Company as an Industrial Engineer. He was very much a family man, holding his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren close to his heart.
