Marlene Rode

Marlene had an exceptionally big heart, and her family was everything to her. She wanted nothing more than to be a devoted mom, wife, sister, and aunt. She loved children deeply and took great joy in being known as the “Popsicle Lady” by the lake kids and “Momma Marlene” by the many children she lovingly welcomed into her family as her own.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by two sisters‑in‑law, Marilyn Storrie and Angela Rode.

Left to cherish Marlene’s memory are her beloved husband of 54 years, John Rode; her daughter, Sara Rode; her sister, Marsha McGrath (Bobby); her brother, Glenn Sterchi; her in‑laws: Carole Butler; Clarence Rode (Donna); Bob Rode; Jeanette Rode (Ray Bard); Kathy Stevens (Dennis); Ed Rode (Vicki); and Theresa Richardson (Dave); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218. A service held in Marlene’s honor will begin at 12 PM Wednesday, May 6 with visitation prior from 10-12 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WHAS Crusade for Children.
