Martha Jean Freeman

Martha Jean Freeman, born on May 31, 1933, in Nicholasville, Kentucky, peacefully went to meet her Lord and Savior face to face at Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg, Indiana on Friday, June 12th, 2026.

Martha was the daughter of Armster and Leanna Bruner of Nicholasville, KY and was one of twelve children. She later made her home in Louisville, Kentucky, where she became a devoted and active member of Okolona Christian Church. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she joyfully shared it with others through her words, actions, and service.

Martha married to the love of her life, Leon Freeman, for 49 wonderful years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon; her parents; and her siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Thomas (Larry); her grandson, Andy Thomas (Angela); her granddaughter, Sarah Burnett (Eric); and her cherished great-granddaughters, Lanna, Nora Jean, Kinsley Thomas, and Violet and Ruby Burnett. She is also survived by her brother, Armster Bruner Jr. (Betty), and her sister, Anna Neale Goldy, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.

Martha retired from Kentucky Farm Bureau, where she served as a department supervisor over three departments. She was respected for her strong work ethic and leadership. She was a trusted co-worker that loved to inspire others in her life. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Above all, Martha loved her family. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she took great pride in watching her family grow. Her warm smile, steadfast faith, and caring heart touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Though she will be greatly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life. She was an devoted Christ follower who lived the fruits of the spirit daily by showing God’s love to all.

Martha's legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, 40218. A funeral service in Martha's honor will begin at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Martha will be laid to rest privately in Resthaven Memorial Park.
