

Martha Angela Greenwell “Pete” (80) of Louisville, passed peacefully at home with her family. She was a strong woman who beat stage 4 lung cancer once. In recent years it returned for another battle, and she was ready for the fight. Dementia stepped in. She battled it for as long as she could. The physical body was tired long before she was.
She was preceded in death by; her parents, Hubert Patrick “HP” and Etta J. Greenwell; sisters, Beverly Moody, Patricia Lemons; Brother-in-law, Robert Moody, and two nieces Diane Ritter and Delores Redwitz.
She is survived by; her children, Pat Davenport (Vicki), and Christy Hibbs (Herb), four grandsons, Stephen Davenport (Jade), Brandyn McKnight, Derrick Davenport, and Jimmie Kirk; four great-grandson, Korey and Bryan McKnight, Beckett and Roman Davenport and one great-granddaughter, Madison Davenport, and granddaughter- in-law, Abbie McKnight
Pete lost her lifelong best friend and chosen sister, Cheri Kirk, just over a year ago, but was fortunate enough to be loved by many other special people. Such as, her “extra” son, Johnny Hagan (Angella) and Sandy Farmer her close friend. As well as her AA home group “The Cane Run Road Group”.
She counted her blessings for being a part of the lives of her nephews, Carl Wilson, Scott Michael and Jason Kirk; her nieces, Debbie Hale, Marie Day, and Missy McMichael; Great-nieces, Nancy Burch, Angie Goodman, Cindy Ritter; great- nephews, Shawn Hale, Chad Hale, Larry Lee Ritter, Cory Burcham, Clay McMichael, and Cole McMichael.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorial contributions to be made in her name to Hosparus Of Louisville, and Caskets of Kentucky.
A visitation will be held at Evergreen funeral home, Louisville, Kentucky, on Wednesday August 5, 2026, from 11:00am –2:45pm. A committal service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky, at 3:00pm.
