Martha "Marty" Jane Davis (née Way), born February 4, 1947 in Jeffersonville, IN to Vivian and John Way, passed away peacefully on June 12th at Baptist Health Hospital, after bravely battling Alzheimer's Disease.
She graduated from Our Lady of Providence High School in Clarksville, IN and then went to work for Bellsouth Indiana for 30 years, first as a telephone operator, and then moving to the Engineering Department.
At a singles dance at Whispering Hills Country Club in Louisville in 1977, she met the love of her life, Marshall Davis. They married on June 12, 1981, and spent the next 45 years as best friends and traveling partners. They traveled to England, Russia, and other countries with her sister JoAnn and her husband, and on cruises and many bus trips, where they visited all 50 states.
Marty was a wonderful cook, talented seamstress and crafts person, painting figures for the dollhouses and the elaborate model train set that Marshall built, in addition to making beautiful needlepoint creations. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she was a member of the sewing group, Threads of Love.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Marty is survived by her husband, Marshall, sisters JoAnn Wiggins (Larry) of Texas, and Rosemarie Soukop (Ron), and her sister-in-law, Bette Weis (Ray), a niece, several nephews and great nephews, and wonderful neighbors, who have been so helpful and kind, and many good, long-term friends.
