Martha Lea Rudd

Martha Lea Rudd, 87, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Baptist Health of Louisville. Born in Louisville, August 26, 1939, Martha was a beloved and cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Loran, and her mother, Martha Loran.

Martha graduated from Eastern High School and went on to earn her teaching degree from Murray State University. After getting married and starting a family, she moved from Louisville and later returned in 1986. She retired from Masonic Home after a nineteen-year career.

Those closest to Martha knew the steady warmth she brought to every gathering. She was an avid bridge player, and her home was often filled with friends and family enjoying each other’s company. When she wasn’t at home, she enjoyed traveling or visiting a casino on the Ohio River. A huge University of Kentucky fan, Martha watched every football and basketball game with the same passion as if she were in the stands. She also loved decorating for the holidays and bringing family together to make memories.

Martha is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charlie; her children, Clifford Rudd (Shannon) and Deborah Gagel (Steve); four grandchildren, Kelsey (Rudd) Lenz, Summer Gagel, Maddy Rudd, and Kate Gagel; two great-grandchildren, Barrett and Benson Lenz; her sister, Donna Walker; her nephew, Shawn Walker; and her niece, Stephanie Walker.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218, US. Private entombment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park.
