Martin Lee Cundiff, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 13, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on April 20, 1957, in Red Bluff, California, Marty's life was a testament to his enduring kindness and entrepreneurial spirit.
Marty's journey began as a proud graduate of Manual High School in 1975, where he formed lifelong friendships and a foundation for his future. His professional path led him to become the respected owner of Famous Value Carpets, where he served the community and built a legacy of loyalty among customers and friends alike.
A man of deep faith, Marty was a loyal member of Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church, where he lifted spirits with his voice in the choir. He also shared his singing voice with the Silver Notes a community based senior singing group. His love for music was matched by his love for his wife, Joy "Dawn" Cundiff, whom he met at St. Matthew UCC. Together, they shared 46 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
Marty's passion for life extended to his role as a die-hard fan of UofL, where he was also a student.
He leaves behind a loving family: his wife, Joy "Dawn"; children, Melanie Smith (Mason) and Ryan Cundiff (Michelle); grandchildren, Asher and Gatlyn Smith; in-laws, Joyce and Joe Louden; and a host of relatives and friends. Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Dorothy Cundiff.
Marty's legacy of warmth, generosity, and community spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his loved ones. His goofball personality, passionate singing voice, and unconditional love will be missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations be made to Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church or to Center for Women and Families. If you would like to send a gift for the family they have requested potted plants to ensure they last for years and years.
Services will be at Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church on September 28. A visitation for Martin will be held from 12pm to 2pm on September 28, 2024 with a funeral service to follow at 2pm.
