She was the daughter of the late Ervin and Nancy Taylor and retired from the A & P Warehouse after working more than 42 years.
Hazel was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church for 35 years, especially in their Women’s Missionary Union. Involved in many local organizations, she was a lifetime member of the Democratic Women’s Club of Jefferson County, Teamsters Local 89 and the VFW Post of Churchill Downs Auxiliary. She also enjoyed being a member of the Buechel Park Forever Young Exercise Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four siblings.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Patsy Carby (William); three grandchildren, Debbie (Pete) Thomas, David (Paula) Carby and Diana (Pat) Mayhall; eight great-grandchildren, Brent, Megan (Scott), Beth (Gabe), Scott, LeighAnne, Laura, Mallory and Hillary; and five great-great grandchildren; Madeline, Claire, Amelia, Zara and Keely.
She was a beloved mother and grandmother and enjoyed attending all the various activities of her grandchildren.
Hazel's Life Celebration service will be held at noon on Monday, February 25, 2013, in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, and Monday after 10 a.m.Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Green Acres Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
