The second of three girls born to the late Albert and Margaret Greenlee, Mary was born on August 1, 1941.
Mary was a 1959 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, and then went on to Marshall University where she graduated in 1963 with a degree in Education. She was very proud to be an alumna of both Stonewall and Marshall. Mary taught at several local Kanawha County high schools after graduation. Above all, Mary was a committed follower of Jesus, and a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother, and wife. She had a passion for baking cookies that her family could not wait to eat, and she never arrived empty handed which brought a smile to everyone’s face. Mary was also very adept at preparing wonderful holiday treats. Her grandchildren loved her so much, and always had fun with her whether it was going on walks or her questionable decision of teaching the to use wax paper to make the slide go faster.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her sister, Patti Bronn and brother, Paul Greenlee.
Left to cherish Mary’s memory is her devoted husband of 50 years, Bill Glancy; their children, Scott Evans (Rachel), Chris Evans (Sepi), Kristiin Glancy, and Pat Glancy (Stephanie); grandchildren, Gretchen, Gus, Patience, Alexander, and Aelena; sister, Carol Miller (Don); along with nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
Mary’s family would like to thank the caring, attentive staff at The Springs at Oldham Reserve for taking such good care of Mary in her final days.
