Mary S. Hummel

Mary Siler Hummel, 91, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022. She was born September 30, 1930 the daughter of Joseph M. Siler and Pearl Baker. Mary loved encouraging others and was loved by many. She was an active member of Hurstborne Baptist Church and a vital member of the Alpha Club. Mary had a great sense of humor and made sure everyone felt welcomed when they came into her church. She was especially noted for her banana nut bread and homemade candy, which she so generously shared. She will be greatly missed by everyone. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John D. Hummel, Jr. MD, and one son, Phillip Hummel. She is survived by one son, John D. Hummel, one daughter, Patricia “Patty” Reed (David), grandchildren: Christopher Hummel (Kristen), Eric Hummel (Samantha), Anna Rose Johnson (Alex), Brothers: Rusty Siler (Charlotte), and Joe Siler. Funeral service will be at 2 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home (4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218). Visitation will be from 11 AM until service time of 2 PM at the funeral home on Saturday. A private burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to Hurstborne Baptist Church.
