Throughout her life, Mary exemplified resilience, kindness, and devotion. From her early years in Kentucky through her years as a mother, wife, bookkeeper, homemaker, and creative individual, she built a life centered on family, hard work, cherished friendships, and abiding love. Her legacy will continue to be reflected in the lives of those she touched and in the memories they hold dear.
May her family and friends find comfort in the remembrance of a life lived with love, purpose, and dignity.
Mary was born on April 22, 1941, in Bullitt County, Kentucky, to Mary Josephine Webb and William Paul Ennis. As the eldest daughter of seven children, she learned responsibility at an early age and helped care for her younger siblings with steady love and devotion.
Her Kentucky roots shaped her early years and remained an important part of her story throughout her life. By 1950, Mary was living in Barren County, Kentucky, with her parents and siblings.
Mary graduated from Park City High School in 1958, completing her studies one year early. She was an intelligent and diligent student, as well as a gifted athlete who particularly enjoyed track and field.
After graduation, Mary moved to Louisville, Kentucky, with her close friend, Arlene. She pursued accounting coursework and established a career as a bookkeeper, a profession in which her sharp mind, attention to detail, and dependable nature served her well.
On December 23, 1958, Mary married Robert Cravens in Louisville. On October 6, 1966, she welcomed her only child, Cheryl Cravens, who remained one of the greatest joys of her life.
Mary and Robert later moved to Campbellsville, Kentucky, where they hoped to raise their daughter in the comfort of a smaller town. Together, they owned and operated M&R Bait & Tackle near Green River.
Following their divorce around 1970, Mary and Cheryl returned to Louisville. Mary later resided on Southern Parkway, in Jeffersontown, and in Hikes Point, moving through each chapter of life with resilience and independence.
Mary later married Tom Morris, and after that chapter of her life ended, she eventually met Guy Jolly.
Mary had a lasting love for ballroom dancing, and it was at a dance at the Moose Club that she met Guy Jolly, who would later become her husband.
Mary and Guy were married on May 7, 1983. She spent the remainder of her life with him in their home in Hollow Creek, Kentucky. Together, they traveled extensively, enjoyed new places and cultures, and created many treasured memories, including visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Paris, France, London, England, Utrecht and Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and Singapore.
Mary enjoyed many interests and talents throughout her life, including ballroom dancing at the Moose Club, bowling, gardening, flowers, the outdoors, crafting, and sewing. She was proud to have seen Elvis Presley perform live in Louisville and was known for creating cherished handmade items, including snowmen and Christmas tree skirts, which she sold at local craft shows. She also dearly loved her Lhasa Apso, Feebie.
Mary will be remembered for her integrity, honesty, work ethic, generosity, and quiet strength. She believed in doing what was right, keeping her word, honoring her responsibilities, and assisting others whenever she could.
Family was among the deepest and most enduring parts of Mary’s life. She shared a special closeness with her sisters, and in her final days she was surrounded by the love of family. Her grandniece, Chyenne Hoots, served as her primary caretaker, offering comfort, devotion, and tender care.
Mary is survived by her husband, Guy Jolly; her daughter, Cheryl Cravens; her sisters, Sharon Beams and Sue Tims; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Mary’s memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her life stands as a lasting testament to devotion to family, quiet strength, creativity, intelligence, integrity, resilience, loyalty, and love.
A service to honor Mary will be held at 2 PM Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-2 PM at the funeral home.
